Well, we had Baby A's 9 month check up on Thursday and here is how she weighed in:
Weight: 15.2 pounds (that is with her clothes on and a VERY wet diaper! . . . not sure why they kept her clothes on, they have never done that for my other babies.) That doesn't even put her on the chart for percentiles. So she is at the 0 percentile, which means if she was compared to 100 kids her age they would all weigh more then her!
Height: 27 inches long ~ 15th percentile
Head: 16.4 inches ~ 4th percentile
She's a peanut!!! Besides that the Dr. thought she looked great. . . . We do too!!! For those of you who have been waiting for her 9 month pictures. . . I tried to get some tonight but SERIOUSLY she does not sit still or cooperate at all! There is a reason she is so thin. . . she burns off more calories then she could possibility consume! LOL I'll try again for some more pictures, but she really is exhausting. I might have to settle for some sleeping ones, since that is the only time she stops moving! :-)
We also had Miss E's five year check up, which meant KINDERGARTEN shots!!! She did great. She shed a couple quiet tears (but so did I!)
She weighed in at:
Weight for Stature: 31 pounds ~ 0 Percentile (Doesn't surprise me, since she has been that from birth too!)
Height: 43 inches ~ 40th Percentile
Can't believe how much our babies are growing up!!!

Butterflies and a Toad
Mommy brought home some caterpillars from her classroom this week that we were able to watch turn into butterflies. Finally the day came to release them!
Notice Little E's ear piece! It is a spy toy from McDonalds that has quickly become his new favorite toy!
They are called Painted Ladies. They look similar to a Monarch when their wings are open, but are mostly brown when they have them closed.
Auntie Christine came out to watch us let them go. As we were releasing our last butterfly, we found a toad jumping in the rocks! Miss E just wanted to look, but Little E was excited to hold and explore it!

Getting it Right: Recent Portrayal of T1D in Mass Media
Just came across this great article about Type 1 Diabetics that was published this week. :-) Thought I would share. If you click on the blue links it will take to the YouTube videos so you can actually watch the segments they are talking about and other informative articles.

I knew it was a lot but every day 80 children and adults are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and that number is going up at an alarming rate! We pray every chance we can that there will someday be a cure! A cure from the endless finger pokes, the carb counting, the insulin figuring, the set changes, middle of the night checks, and on and on, but mostly a cure from the constant worrying a child with diabetes brings to ones life.
We so are thankful for JDRF and their constant work to finding a cure and feel so fortunate and proud that we are able to take part in some of their fundraising activities, knowing every dollar raised is being put to good work! We are already planning out details for next years JDRF walk! Can't wait! ;-)

9 Months
Baby A is 9 months old today!!!! (I'm hoping to get a formal photo shoot in sometime this week, so check back!) :-)
Not sure on her weight and height, but we have her 9 month Dr. appointment on the 31st! She is still pretty tiny, even though she eats like a horse!
She is still one of the busiest babies we know. She speed crawls, walks around furniture, stands momentarily by herself, and recently has learned to wave! She still only has two teeth on the bottom, but I say daily, "Today is the day, those top teeth HAVE to pop through!" But I've been saying this for about three months now and I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever come down. :-)
I can't remember if I have posted a picture of her sucking her thumb or not but as soon as you give her, her silky blanket she pops her thumb into her mouth. Hopefully we can break her of this habit before she starts kindergarten! ;-)
More Artwork
I LOVE children's artwork! It is one of my favorite things! Here is a picture I found in Miss E's notebook earlier this week. Thought I would share! :-)

Riding Bike
Well, we survived our first day of Summer Vacation! Little E learned how to ride his bike with NO training wheels. I tried to get some video of it, but my camera batteries weren't cooperating! I'll try to post later this week with a video! He is pretty proud of himself!
Miss E has also mastered getting starting on her own. Last year we had to help give her a push each time she wanted to go. Now she is 100% independent on the bike! While Little E was learning how to ride his bike, we told Miss E she needed to stay out of his way, so she kept busy by pushing Baby A in the stroller!

A couple new posts
Sorry I've been slow on the blogging, but here are a couple posts from the last couple weeks!
This picture isn't all that exciting, but I thought it was cute how they were both laying! The kids LOVE listening to stories on the iPad. They could do it all day if we would let them!
Pig Tails
We have had one pony in Baby A's hair before, but today we decided to give it a try with two! I didn't quite get them centered, but it still turned out cute!

Mother's Day Church Performance
On Sunday the kids sang a couple songs at church for Mother's Day. They did GREAT! I got a couple clips of them singing, but this one is the best, since apparently I can't hold the camera still at watch them at the same time! ;-)
Both E and E are on the right, in case you couldn't tell!

Shoes!
Any time Baby A is in her room she goes straight for her shoes! She LOVES shoes!. . . that is . . . she LOVES to CHEW on them!
Notice the hair hanging in her eyes! Not sure what we are going to do with that! I always brush it to the side, but it goes back to the front!

Crib Time
The other morning Brother got into the crib with Baby A. He threw in a bunch of toys and even got his old ring pop to use as a pacifier. They had a good old time, until Miss E decided to get in! Three is definitely a crowd when you're in a crib!

Spring Dance Performance
Miss E had her last dance performance for the year and you can tell she REALLY loves it! She is already super excited about next year and the cute costume she gets to wear. She can't stop talking about it! ;-)
Here is a video of their new song/routine.

Summer Drawings
There is an art project the kids came home from daycare with (I added the captions from what they said their pictures were about!) It's going to be a GREAT summer! Only eight more school days for us and then let the summer fun begin!

Happy Birthday Dad!
Happy Birthday Dad!!!! We love you and are so grateful to call you Dad! Thanks for EVERYTHING you have done and do for us over the years.
What I remember of my dad growing up. . . Although he was often working, he made sure we were working next to him. I say with pride that he taught me how to:
* Ride a horse by myself around the age of three.
* Chase and sort cattle from the back of horse with the best of them.
* Use a fencing tool (probably with my eyes closed. . . since we fixed more fences then I care to remember!)
* Haul and set up irrigation piles in the dog heat of summer.
* Drive a straight shift.
* Swim (he tells it as he threw us in the lake and let us fend for ourselves, but I remember differently!) LOL
* Weld (I had my welding sample on the Welding Wall of Fame in my high school to prove this. . . wonder if it is still there. . . ) ;-)
* Castrate, vaccinate, and dehorn calves.
* Help with calving, . . . bottle feeding calves, and pretty much every other thing that goes with being a rancher's daughter!
* Drive a grain truck and operate the hydraulics.
* Run a chainsaw, a drill, a saw, yup, pretty much any power tool!
* Water ski (behind the old yellow boat.)
* Never to be afraid but to respect a storm (when everyone else was taking cover he was taking us out to storm chase)
* To change a tire.
* To explore and discover how and why things work.
* To fish.
* To hunt both by gun and by snare (He started us out young by taking care of the gofers in the pastures!)
Yup, those are just a FEW of the things that quickly came to my head when I think about all the things my dad taught me over the years! If you would ask my husband he would say the one thing my dad never taught me was the word, "No!" ;-) And actually I have to agree with him! If Mom said no, we knew to go ask dad! 'One' of dad's favorite sayings was, "I reward good behavior!" As long as we were good and worked hard he seldom said no. But we also knew if he did say no, we could usually convince him to eventually say yes! Yup, having three daughters (who growing up were all daddy's girls) he didn't have much of a chance!
Thank you for spending so much time with us as children making sure we were well rounded and had the best childhood anyone could EVER wish for! Hope your birthday is great! Love you dad! XOXO
