Butterflies and a Toad

Mommy brought home some caterpillars from her classroom this week that we were able to watch turn into butterflies.  Finally the day came to release them!

Notice Little E's ear piece!  It is a spy toy from McDonalds that has quickly become his new favorite toy!

They are called Painted Ladies.  They look similar to a Monarch when their wings are open, but are mostly brown when they have them closed.

Auntie Christine came out to watch us let them go.  As we were releasing our last butterfly, we found a toad jumping in the rocks!  Miss E just wanted to look, but Little E was excited to hold and explore it!

Getting it Right: Recent Portrayal of T1D in Mass Media

Just came across this great article about Type 1 Diabetics that was published this week.  :-)  Thought I would share.  If you click on the blue links it will take to the YouTube videos so you can actually watch the segments they are talking about and other informative articles.

I knew it was a lot but every day 80 children and adults are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and that number is going up at an alarming rate!  We pray every chance we can that there will someday be a cure!  A cure from the endless finger pokes, the carb counting, the insulin figuring, the set changes, middle of the night checks, and on and on, but mostly a cure from the constant worrying a child with diabetes brings to ones life.

We so are thankful for JDRF and their constant work to finding a cure and feel so fortunate and proud that we are able to take part in some of their fundraising activities, knowing every dollar raised is being put to good work!  We are already planning out details for next years JDRF walk!  Can't wait!  ;-)

9 Months

Baby A is 9 months old today!!!!  (I'm hoping to get a formal photo shoot in sometime this week, so check back!)  :-)

Not sure on her weight and height, but we have her 9 month Dr. appointment on the 31st!  She is still pretty tiny, even though she eats like a horse!

She is still one of the busiest babies we know.  She speed crawls, walks around furniture, stands momentarily by herself, and recently has learned to wave!  She still only has two teeth on the bottom, but I say daily, "Today is the day, those top teeth HAVE to pop through!"  But I've been saying this for about three months now and I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever come down.  :-)
I can't remember if I have posted a picture of her sucking her thumb or not but as soon as you give her, her silky blanket she pops her thumb into her mouth.  Hopefully we can break her of this habit before she starts kindergarten!  ;-)

More Artwork

I LOVE children's artwork!  It is one of my favorite things!  Here is a picture I found in Miss E's notebook earlier this week. Thought I would share!  :-)

Riding Bike

Well, we survived our first day of Summer Vacation!  Little E learned how to ride his bike with NO training wheels.  I tried to get some video of it, but my camera batteries weren't cooperating!  I'll try to post later this week with a video!  He is pretty proud of himself!

Miss E has also mastered getting starting on her own.  Last year we had to help give her a push each time she wanted to go.  Now she is 100% independent on the bike!  While Little E was learning how to ride his bike, we told Miss E she needed to stay out of his way, so she kept busy by pushing Baby A in the stroller!

Check out all the babies!

We can't wait to make it home to Nana and Papa's to check out all the colts being born but we are having fun waiting for more pictures as Nana posts them! Aren't they cute!?!? :-) http://rponyquarterhorses.blogspot.com/p/2012-foals.html
