Castaway Camp

Our 10 youth joined over 400 middle school youth from across the EaND Synod and had a great time enjoying all that Castaway Camp has to offer! Miss E had a great time with her Church Friends and getting a chance to build on her faith!

Braces and Gallbladder

It was BIG day yesterday for the Hollands starting with E and E both getting braces on the same day! Ufda, that’s going to hurt the checkbook! Then we ended the day with me getting my gallbladder out after nine months of pains, complaints and saying “I think it’s my gallbladder” and 20 ...yes 2-0 different Dr appointments, copays, and hospital bills later in those 9 months we finally found the right dr that said no this isn’t ok that you don’t have answers yet and yes I believe you that I think it’s your gallbladder and I’m admitting you right now and we will do every test we can until we figure this out. Low and behold they did a HIDA scan of my gallbladder (a different scan then the CT and Ultrasounds other Drs prescribed THREE times and showing on those tests a still picture that my gallbladder looked ok.) The HIDA scan (a test that actually watches it work) came back positive my gallbladder wasn’t functioning. Looking back I actually believe that this may have been what caused my appendix to rupture in December. ðŸ¤”These last nine months have been trying and my heart goes out to anyone with a chronic illness. You look fine and healthy on the outside but your insides are in constant battle and you aren’t yourself, or the wife, mother, daughter, and friend you should be. The list is long of the things I/we missed out on because of not feeling good these last nine months but I’m not going to look back just forward and thanking God for watching over me and for not letting me give up. He put the right dr in front of me, finally! This dr/surgeon was amazing as he took action, listened, made a plan, and they worked me in with his crazy busy schedule (had surgery all day ...a couple that went longer than expected and finally got me in at 8:30 pm) as he knew we could not wait a moment longer! Now I’m on the road to recovery and will hopefully begin to living life again! Thank you to everyone for your prayers, text messages and calls (Sorry I haven’t been able to reply to them all but I’ve read them and I’m so grateful you took time out of your day to think of me) Also, HUGE thank you to Jason for putting up with me these last nine months as I wasn’t always easy to be around when I never felt good. He’s a keeper!
