CGM Sensor

Little E was lucky enough to go on trial for the new DexCom Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) this weekend.  He gets to try it out for one week before we decide if we want to purchase our own.  He is SUPER pumped about it!

Here one of the Diabetic Educators is inserting the sensor onto the back of his arm.  The sensor will read his blood sugar every 5 minutes and then send a signal showing us his blood sugar.  We will be able to get this number on our cell phones, once we purchase one of our own. We will still have to do finger checks to calibrate the sensor and make sure it is accurate before giving any insulin, in case there is an error. But we are hopeful it will alert us of any highs and lows before they become dangerously high and low.  I asked him if it hurt when she put it in and he said no, not at all.

Here he is all done with the sensor.

Here is a picture of our cutie at bedtime the second evening with the sensor on.  You can see his blood sugar meter and the sensor BOTH are reading the exact number 139!  Awesome!!!  It has been a bit off but usually within 20 so we are pleased so far.  He can leave the sensor on for up to two weeks before removing it.  Where as his pump needle needs to be changed every three days.  We are SO blessed we have a great Dr. and nurses who are SO amazing and helpful and up to date with all the newest trends in diabetes care. . . but even more then that we have the MOST amazing son who NEVER lets anything get him down.  We truly are blessed!

Feeling 'Arty' for Miss E's 8th B-day Party!

Miss E loves all things crafty.  So it was fitting throwing her a painting party this year.  The girls had lots of fun and their paintings turning out wonderful!

Little sister and brother got in on the fun too!  A wanted to paint a flower and Little E a "Chima Lego" Lion.

And here they are with their masterpieces!!!  Didn't they do awesome!?!?!

Then it was time for cupcakes.

And then presents.

Then some bunny time.  What a great day with a GREAT group of girls.  Can't believe our baby girl is going to be EIGHT in a few days! . . . Certainly not a baby anymore!
